A Little Pampering Here and There

January 26th, 2012

... and glitter – The Koh Samui Stores were veritable treasure trovesI am the kind of person who likes to make sure that the needs of others are met before meeting my own needs. This means that a lot of people turn to me for support, and I am generally seen as a dependable person, but at the same time it also means that I sometimes do not have the time to give back to myself the way that I need to. When all of my own needs are not being met, I end up running myself down quite thin, and need a break or I will break myself. This year I need a little extra tender love and care, and my husband has been really great about seeing this need. He is sending us to a koh samui spa for a little downtime, and I could not be happier. I will be relaxed from head to toe, and will return ready to continue giving back to those around me with an invigorated spirit.

Hawaii After the Statehood

January 14th, 2012

After you have learned when did Hawaii become a state, you can now see what this state has achieved thus far. The beauty of the island of Hawaii is not only about the beauty of its sands and waters; it also includes the richness of its history.

After the statehood, Hawaii transformed its beautiful island as a tourist hotspot and a haven of surfing, swimming and diving. Construction of different hotels and other amenities modernized this island to boost its economy through tourism. It was also important for the people of Hawaii to maintain and take care of its culture and nature. This idea was due to the fact that people from different countries around the world visit Hawaii. The influence of these foreigners greatly impacts the culture they are trying to preserve. Thus, the Hawaii State Constitutional Convention of 1978 incorporated programs such as the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to promote indigenous language and culture.

When I was looking to take my family on a vacation not too long ago, I was really looking forward to being able to go on a family vacation because it had been awhile since we were able to do anything like that. However, we were still going to want to stay under a strict budget, and this was something that I was a little bit unsure about because I knew that family vacations could be expensive. We Like to Stay at These Resorts

December 9th, 2011

When my boss told me that I had over a dozen vacation days saved up at my job I did not know what I would do with them. My wife was the one that suggested we take a trip because it had been a really long time since we did something like that. I decided that she was right and that we really needed to get a vacation plan put together for the end of the year. I saw on the internet that there was a special running at one of those Koh Samui wedding resorts and knew right away that would be a perfect place for us to relax all of our worries away. I have done cold weather vacations before at ski lodges but by far my most favorite vacation has to be to resorts that are right there on the beach. The web site said that this particular resort had a lot of nice amenities.

Places to Stay While in Japan

December 5th, 2011

There many different types of Japan accommodation to choose from when planning a trip. I’m trying to find a hotel in Tokyo right now, preferably in Shibuya, because a lot of the activities I have planned for this trip are centered around that neighborhood. I’m planning on going to a lot of concerts, and if my hotel is close, I won’t have to spend so much money on cab fare. There is a lot of good shopping around that part of town, too. Shibuya is a major transportation hub, so when I do go to other parts of the city, the rail lines are right there. When I get tired of the bright lights and noise, I will spend a few days at an onsen (hot spring) to unwind. I’ll have my own hot spring bath, and I can take my meals in my room. That will be my down time before I leave. I think it’s better to end the trip relaxed. That way I can sleep through some of that long flight home!

Cheap Holidays: Look No Further Than Eastern Europe

December 1st, 2011

Eastern Europe has become the most popular place for cheap holidays. If you are looking to roam around Europe on a shoe string budget, you need not look any further than Eastern Europe. The major countries that you should cover include Czech Republic (Prague is one of the most beautiful and cheap cities of Europe), Hungary (include Budapest in your ‘must visit’ list), Slovakia (make sure you don’t miss Bratislava), Poland (the Jewish World War II concentration camps are a must watch) and Romania. All these countries will offer you the best of both the worlds, traditional architecture laced with a modern outlook. When you are visiting these countries make sure that you are carrying the local currency of the particular country as Euro is generally not accepted (even though the countries belong to the European Union). The best time period to visit this part of the world is from March-August as it is very cold for the rest of the year.

Going Away at Christmas? then Book Accommodation Now While There is Still Some Choice

November 29th, 2011

Lots of people like to get away for a few days at Christmas. Whether you are visiting family or taking the children to the panto in London, then finding accommodation can be as much of a trial as deciding what you are going to do! If you leave it too late you won’t be going as the accommodation will all be booked.

Well this company, SACO Serviced Apartments, provide serviced apartments (like a self catering hotel!) throughout the UK and even overseas. The apartments are spacious and comfortable, very clean and often very modern in design. You don’t just get one room, but can ask for an apartment with one, two or even three bedrooms, depending on the size of your family or group. The first time I used one of the apartments with my family I couldn’t get over how relaxed I felt! It was all because the children had space to sleep separately from me and my husband but there was no way anyone else could get to them except by coming past us! It felt so different to a hotel and I have always tried to use them since. Mealtimes were not a struggle with a baby as we could eat in our room and prepare our own meals and if we wanted to go out, the apartment was close to other restaurants.

Treat yourself to something special this Christmas. Feel relaxed and book a serviced apartment for your city break or family get-to-gether and don’t forget to do it soon, before they are all booked up!

Dominican Republic Culture: Music and Dance

October 10th, 2011

Similar to other countries, the Dominican Republic culture also has great music and dances. All Dominicans have great passion for music, and two of the most popular music in the Dominican Republic are merengue and bachata. Merengue has a combined sound and beat from Africa and Europe played with musical instruments like melodeon,güira, and tambora. This is often the type of music you will see Dominicans in clubs or in the city dancing. Bachata, on the other hand, is very popular in most rural regions in the Dominican Republic. This is often categorized as country music and talks about men and women relationships. Indeed, music plays a very important role in defining one’s emotions. In fact, during the colonial era in Dominican, both elites and planters listen to music either at home or at work, and it had become a part of their daily lives.

Since the Dominican Republic is part of the Caribbean and has a Spanish origin, expect to see songs and dances from Spain. During the 18th century, dance forms like fandango and bolero are very popular during those times. One of the earliest forms of dance and music in the country is Barcarola Criolla. If you happen to visit Santo Domingo, this capitol has quite a large number of theaters with a lot of folkloric dancers and dance troupes performing regularly.

Most Dominicans are Roman Catholics and during patron feasts, each region is celebrating patron feasts with ceremonial dances and folklore songs. Among the many traditional dances in the country are Mangulina and Jacana, which are both very popular dances in feasts.

So if you are planning to visit this culture-rich country this year or you want to spend a long summer vacation in their wonderful beaches and resorts, why not take this opportunity to see for yourself how music and rhythm inclined are the people in the Dominican Republic.

Our Next Purchase Will Be in Fiji

August 10th, 2011

I called my brother just last weekend because he is in the real estate industry and knows a thing or two about buying a house. But, the thing is that we are not looking for your standard American suburban home. We want to find Fiji real estate for sale that we can buy and turn in to the vacation home of our dreams. I just need him to help me look up some current rates and see what we should put down as a down payment. Its amazing just how much information you can get off of the internet these days. Now, you can get a ton of information about the market in Fiji just by going to one web site. It used to be that you would have to actually fly there and talk to a real estate broker about the homes that are for sale. Times really have changed!
